I Am Bored Because of This

January 7, 2008 / by lost88

Okay, I make no sense half the time, sometimes I make a startling amount of sense, but none of that matters as I am now tackling a nonsensical topic. I am, of course, talking about Religion. As many of you people who are able to work things out for themselves know, the idea of God is probably the silliest notion any human has ever come up with. Like Jesus. He was human. Not a God. And who knows? Maybe he didn't exist at all! MAYBE those in power at the time said " we need a system that allows us to control the masses", and maybe the one intelligent person in an amazingly primitive society came up with a book.
(Oh and by the way, none of Jesus' ALLEGED miracles left any evidence of any kind, whatsoever. so don't even think about using that as an excuse)

Upon finishing this book, he took it to the men in power and said
"Look! The words in this book will convince thousands-no, millions to do whatever you say! We can poach unique and pagan rituals from all the other religions, giving a keen attraction to those who would say "I have already found my God", we can project the false message of there being this wonderful place called Heaven, and at the same time, scare everyone else into believing it by saying they'll burn in a lake of fire for all eternity if they don't believe!"

now, I have absolutely NO love for religion (Christianity least of all), but these days religion is actually harming us collectively, as a species. You even get people who kill themselves in order to be "closer to God" or some ridiculous trite not too dissimilar.

And the rationalizations! WOW. That's all I have to say. You see an African child starving to death on the T.V., and you say "It must be part of God's Plan", or "He moves in mysterious ways".

I really must say, however, that the utter lack of proof is the most annoying thing about religion and religious types. They say "you cannot prove that God does not exist", like that means he's real... (cough) that may be the case, but if I told you that there were semi-permeable, invisible space monkeys passing through your bodies at the rate of thousands a second, I imagine you would just look at me funny. Unless I had proof. Let's assume I don't. How would I explain it to you?

"The monkeys do not wish to be noticed"
"It is not in the monkeys' plans to be noticed"
"They move in mysterious ways"
Are we starting to see a pattern evolving here?

Bob-people who don't believe are just as loved by their creator as people who do - it's relative - it's a matter of time. I want to ask you, humbly, to consider two things I've noticed about patients that present to my work, and their "end." One patient who is approximately 60 years old, lesbian, dying of rampant cancer, white. The other patient, may or may not be straight, black, male, had cancer. The former patient came in complaining, making a scene in front of a full office, was mean, belligerent, and her countenance spoke of overflowing hatred - I am talking pure, unadulterated hatred. The man, presented at the desk to sign in, had a smile from ear to ear, and praised his Creator for his "healing." Now, both those people came down with a potentially fatal grave illness. The woman will, most probably, die within a year or so, cutting her normal life by 20 or 30 years. The man is so happy, it exudes from his very being. This is the "end" of those who have not and have a relationship with their Creator. Just something for you to think about. Carol

That's a fairly bold assumption to make, that just because the woman doesn't believe in God she will suffer her own mental anguish. I personally don't think that it is God that gives support to Christians, rather they support each other. The thing I don't understand is how do you manage to attribute anything good, regardless of how it came to fruition, to God? Surely there has to be room for normal human intervention as well as the yet unproven form of divine intervention. And who knows, she may have had a perfectly good reason to be angry, maybe her Doctor told her she did not have cancer, then changed his mind about it at a point far too late to be of any help. By the way, my mother is a nurse in a local surgery and this actually did happen to an elderly man of about 70 years. He was so angry about it that he didn't speak to his own son before he died, and my mother was at his home when he actually did die. To say the happy man is only happy is ignorant, because anybody would be scared of having cancer and you are only choosing to acknowledge one emotion.

Believe whatever you want but there is someone or something out there,I mean you can say whatever you like but c'mon don't tell me you have never felt like someone you can't see was there with you during a rough time. By the way, good thing you don't believe in heaven because you probably will end up in hell.

part that made me lmao: "don't tell me you have never felt like someone you can't see was there with you" um, why not? why would I say that if I really did have imaginary friends?

actually I'll tell you what gets me about this. It's the fact that people are giving up their lives JUST IN CASE god exists. where's the proof? you can prove some liquids defy gravity itself, that stars are still being formed and that the earth is round. fact is, the whole concept of god has been scrutinised so much over the years its nearly impossible to discern any truth whatsoever from religion.

one other thing, tennisgrrl.. you're right, I don't believe in heaven, so I won't be going there... but I don't believe in hell either so why would I end up there instead?

i have an answer to your question so here it is"because g-d wouldn't wanna see your ugly face and neither would I so thats a good thing."

  • lost88 said 7 months ago

    1. I don't know you, just the fact that you believe in God.

2.The same goes for you, just vice versa.

3.Because of these two simple reasons, you should realize that my opinion is of no consequence to you, your opinion is of no consequence to me and that whatever you say will not affect me in any way whatsoever.

    4.I'm not ugly.Smile

"its nearly impossible to discern any truth whatsoever from religion"----exactly, which is why God came down 2K years ago in our flesh for 33 years, to deliver us from all our manmade religions and give us true Life.

And no, believing in God will not perforce equate with "happy all the time."  There are plenty of non-believing folks who're "happy" bec. they've got lots of money, or lots of friends, or they love their job, or whatever.  Don't ever let anyone pawn off on you the lie that being in God is a bed of roses.  Anything but.  If a person is led to believe based on that, then they're bound to apostasize when the going gets tough.

Jesus is Manna for the soul, not laughing gas.

PS:  Tennisgirl 4got to mention a crucial verse:  "While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."Wink

    Deut 25:11-12

11 If men get into a fight with one another, and the wife of one intervenes to rescue her husband from the grip of his opponent by reaching out and seizing his genitals, 12you shall cut off her hand; show no pity.
